Most of the calls we receive fall into these six problems. A couple you can check yourself in two minutes — the rest need a technician.

Blowing air but not cooling

The fan runs, yet the room stays warm even after twenty minutes.

Check firstSet the mode to Cool rather than Fan, then clean the indoor filter. If it is still warm, the refrigerant is usually low or the compressor has a fault.

Water dripping from the indoor unit

Water running down the wall or onto the floor while the AC is on.

Check firstThis is almost always a blocked drain pipe. Switch the unit off at the mains and book a visit — do not open the cover yourself.

Refrigerator

Freezer works, lower shelf stays warm

Ice forms normally on top but the fridge compartment is at room temperature.

Check firstLook for a blocked air vent between the two compartments. If it is clear, the fan motor or defrost timer has usually failed.

Loud buzzing or rattling

A constant noise that does not settle down after a few minutes.

Check firstMake sure the fridge is level and not touching the wall. Continuous buzzing usually points to the condenser fan or compressor.

Water not draining out

The cycle finishes but the drum is still full of water.

Check firstClean the drain filter and check the outlet hose is not bent or lifted too high. If it stays full, the drain pump needs replacing.

Shaking hard during spin

The machine vibrates violently or moves across the floor.

Check firstSpread the load evenly and level the feet. On front-load machines, the transit bolts at the back must be removed after delivery.
